Exploring and Understanding Gender Identity LGBTQ+: For Parents and All of Us!!

From podcast host Denise Gorant:

Many of us think we are progressive and accepting, but to step into someone's shoes helps us learn so much more.  This episode is NOT JUST FOR PARENTS of LGBTQ+ children, but for ALL OF US.  Today I speak with Levi Teachey, who is the Board President of PFLAG Denver and Stacey Shigaya, who is the organization's Board Secretary.

Levi shares his very personal journey as a trans man and Stacey shares her journey both as an ally within the LGBTQ+ community and with her daughter who is pansexual.

We discuss both their stories and the rapidly changing landscape of this community.  Please share the episode with friends and family who you think might benefit.

Important Resources from the
Family Acceptance Project

Download the Family Acceptance Project’s (FAP) evidence-based posters to educate family members, providers, religious leaders, LGBTQ youth and others about the critical role of family support to prevent suicide and other serious health risks and to build healthy futures for LGBTQ children and youth.

The posters are grounded in FAP’s compelling research, show how family rejecting and accepting behaviors contribute to risk and well-being for LGBTQ young people. Also developed is an evidence-based family support model that is being integrated into systems of care that use the posters and FAP’s other research-based education and intervention resources.

The posters are available in English, Spanish, Chinese (traditional), Chinese (simplified), Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Punjabi, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.
